A Serious Job

It's a serious job!
Really, a serious job...
The rabbit of the moon. Is he making mochi? Or, is he making the elixir of immortality?
If you're Japanese or Korean, you might say that the rabbit of the moon is pounding mochi (Japanese) or making rice cakes (Korean).
If you're Chinese you might say he was at his mortar and pestle grinding herbs for the Elixir of Immortality.
Asian countries share the same idea that there's a rabbit on the moon, because of the dark blotch that appears to look like a giant rabbit, but that rabbit's job is up for discussion between different countries. I like the different interpretations. One is playful and the other serious.
For my story, I chose to take the Chinese interpretation. I like the idea of Jade being a medicine maker, and if you read my comic, the Rabbit and the Moon, he's also made poisons.
South by Southwest
My friend invited me fly down to Austin and visit her, and I got a chance to visit SXSW's gaming expo over the last couple of days since that convention is happening. The gaming expo is a small part of SXSW, but I attended a few panels and walked through the expo floor. There's a lot of neat stuff to see. They had an arcade setup. Indie developers had booths. Nintendo had a big one for the Switch -- and I managed to nab myself a Switch baseball cap after demoing a bunch of their games.
I'd love to get a Switch, but I can wait.
As for panels, I saw one on independent developers and they discussed how they made it. It's inspiring to me. Even though we're not actively developing for Prisma Wave right now, there are some things I can do with the IP. At least, I ought to give every possible way forward a chance.
That's all I've got this week, until next time...
